Ichigo Momomiya
Later, she grudgingly accepts her fate, realizing what she is (a Mew) and the importance of the task assigned to her.
Ichigo has some aspects of the typical magical girl heroine personality: sweet and caring, shy around her love interest, prone to overlooking things the more perceptive and more intelligent can see, and is overactive when she is mad or excited. Ichigo reacts very angrily whenever a loved one is hurt, and dislikes being treated like an object, hence her reaction to Kishu. Ichigo tends to go dreamy and blushes when in the presence of her crush, Masaya, typically head over heels, and she occasionally becomes confused with her feelings, and is prone to act rashly. Many times, she puts her own relationship before saving the world. Overall, she is a friendly person who's willing to give second chances to the people she likes.
She is injected with the DNA of an Iriomote Wildcat. Later she finds herself acting like, instead of a wildcat, an ordinary housecat and, remembering the dream sequence of a cat jumping into her body when she was injected, realizes something has happened to her.

Ryou is said to be a genius in the manga, and in the anime series it is said that his IQ is higher than 180. At the age of ten, he had already decided he would be a scientist like his father, and had succeeded in culturing cells his father had not been able to. His father worried about involving him in the project but felt he would be able to succeed in introducing the animal genes into humans. Later the same day, a lab explosion killed both of Ryou's parents, as well as his dog Daisuke. Ryou decided to go to Japan to continue the project. When the technique for injecting the genes was ready to try, Ryou tested it on himself first to ensure the chosen girls would not be harmed. As Ryou was not a compatible host, the only effect on him was that he can change into a cat at will, but if he remains in cat form for more than ten minutes, he will remain that way permanently. Ryou tends to talk roughly but he has a very strong sense of personal responsibility, particularly for having to turn the girls into Mew Mews. He also encourages the girls in his own way, such as helping boost Lettuce's self-confidence during a party on his yacht. He enjoys teasing Ichigo and making her blush. In his cat form, he helps Ichigo when she herself changes to a cat, but does so under the name Alto. Not knowing it is Ryou, Ichigo kisses the feline Alto to help her change back three times. When she learns it was Ryou all along, she's very embarrassed.

Keiichiro Akasaka
Masaya Aoyama
anything for her, but it is shown a few chapters later that he does feel the same, calling Ichigo his "all-time favorite kitty" and by tying a bell around her neck so he won't lose track of her. In describing him to readers, Ichigo notes that Masaya is "smart", "cute", "very athletic" and "popular at school", and that she loves his smile the most. Masaya realizes that Ichigo is Mew Ichigo the first time he sees the Mew Mews, but he keeps it to himself because he realized she didn't want him to know—he only reveals that he knew, confesses that he loves her and promises to keep her secret after an attack by Kish forces Ichigo to transform in front of Masaya.
In terms of personality, Masaya is shown to be a very polite and calm person, though he does have moments when he yells at others in anger. When Ichigo appeared to put herself in danger during a date to the zoo, Masaya yelled at Ichigo and making her think he hates her, before giving her the bell. He also shows some jealousy when meeting Ryou, and possessiveness in reminding Ichigo that he is the one who put a bell on her. Towards the end of the series, Masaya reveals that as a child he decided that "being good" was his way to survive and be adopted out of the orphanage where he was raised. He acted the role of the "perfect child" to live up to people's expectations. In truth, he was sick of humans and disgusted by how they treated the planet. Ichigo was the sole exception, and it was only with her that he felt like a "real human being". He is also is shown to have a deep concern for the Earth's environment and actively supporting recycling and cleaning up pollution. In the anime adaptation, Masaya's concerns about the environment are reduced[episode needed], and Ichigo is the one who invited him to the endangered species exhibit.

Kisshu
Kish eventually kidnaps Ichigo, confesses his love, and then demands that she cry because he loves seeing her being frightened. Kish again declares his love to Ichigo towards the end of the series, but attacks and begins strangling her while crying when she rejects him again. He eventually releases her after asking how he can make her love him.Kish is killed after turning against Deep Blue by protecting Ichigo, but is revived with the power of the mew aqua after Deep Blue's defeat. He returns with Pie and Tart to their planet after wishing Ichigo happiness and stealing one final kiss. In the Mew Mew Power English adaptation his name is changed to Sardon and he is voiced by Pete Zarustica .
Deep Blue
Despite being the primary antagonist, Deep Blue does not actually appear until the end of the sixth volume of the manga. Deep Blue is cold natured, cruel hearted, and will kill anyone who gets in his way. Upon awakening, he attacks and injures Ichigo as he does not share Masaya's love for her,and kills Kish without any hesitation when challenged to a duel. This allows Masaya to temporarily re-emerge and release mew aqua inside his body, killing them both. The anime adaptation shows Deep Blue as a voice coming from a blue light, to whom Kish gives progress reports, and a shadowed version of his true form is seen when Kish brings him some mew aqua in episode twenty-six.His death is changed in the anime to come at the hands of Mew Ichigo rather than Masaya, though Masaya aids her by taking over the body . To keep the true identity of Deep Blue a secret, his voice actor's name is shown only as a question mark until his identity is revealed in episode forty-nine; after which the credits are changed to list Megumi Ogata (who also voices Masaya and the Blue Knight).Deep Blue is one of the few characters whose name remains unchanged in the Mew Mew Power dub.The anime slightly modified his role from that of a savior for the aliens to a destructive force that wants to do nothing but destroy the Earth which causes the aliens to turn against him. In the Mew Mew Power English adaptation of the anime series, he is voiced by Scottie Ray .
Momomiya Ichigo is the main character of the manga and anime series Tokyo Mew Mew. In the English dub, Mew Mew Power, Ichigo's name was changed to Zoey Hanson.
Ichigo was just a normal 13-year old junior high student who was on a date with
Aoyama Masaya until her DNA is mysteriously merged with the DNA of an Iriomote Wildcat. Now she is the 'leader' of a group of girls, whose DNA were also merged with that of an endangered species, called Tokyo Mew Mew. Originally, Ichigo wants nothing to do with the "Mew Project", instead wishing to simply spend time with her crush, Masaya.
Aizawa Mint is a fictional character in the manga and anime series Tokyo Mew Mew. In the English dub Mew Mew Power, Mint's name was changed to Corina Bucksworth.
Mint is a rich girl who was used to the lifestyle until she became infused with
the DNA of a Blue Lorikeet. At first she was shocked and had no idea what to do. Ichigo guides her along. But quickly accepts her being a Mew Mew and realizes the tasks she needs to do. Ichigo never meets her and her other comrades until this episode. Mint gives her a handkerchief after her dog, Mickey, licks Ichigo's face, and Ichigo later follows her to her house when Masha detects something strange; she was going to look for a Chimera Anima, not to find out if Mint is the second Mew Mew. Also, Ryou never tells Ichigo that Mint is her comrade - it only becomes apparent when her Mew Mark is revealed before the battle when her dress was ripped in the back.
Mint can be mean, lazy, snobbish, and at times, very sarcastic. One of the only people Mint is nice to is Fujiwara Zakuro, she admires Zakuro very much almost to the point of being obsessed with her, it is hinted along to that she is in love with Zakuro, giving off that she is indeed intersted in a Yuri-type relationship,. Her favorite thing in the world is her pet dog Mickey, whom she really cares for. Mint enjoys having her afternoon tea and rarely helps out at the cafe. Although Mint is a snob to Ichigo, empathetic, a nice person and cares about her friends. Her feelings are very important to her and can easily be hurt. She is often seen drinking tea at work, calling it her "daily ritual", instead of helping others.
Lettuce Midorikawa is the third member of the Mews Mews formally introduced to the readers. Lettuce first appears in the story when her classmates bully her at the endangered species exhibit and the other future Mew Mews come
to her defense. Lettuce comes to Cafe Mew Mew with the same classmates, who are again bullying her. The girls order Lettuce to their school at night to investigate a rumor about a ghost attacking people at the pool. Ichigo again comes to her defense, and once alone, she and Lettuce introduce themselves. That night, Mint drags Ichigo to Lettuce's school to search for the ghost, presuming it is a chimera anima. At the pool, they are surprised to discover that the "ghost" is Lettuce. Terrified of her new Mew Mew powers and afraid they would cause her to be shunned, Lettuce became confused and began lashing out in fear. Ichigo and Mint are able to calm her down and help her see that rather than costing her friends, her new powers have helped her find real friends. Infused with the DNA of a Finless Porpoise, Lettuce's legs can change into a dolphin's tail while she is underwater, greatly improving her swimming ability and allowing her to breathe underwater. She fights with a pair of castanets. Lettuce is initially portrayed as a very shy character lacking in self-confidence and the subject of frequent bullying. The other characters consider Lettuce to be a very kind, and selfless person. When Ichigo questions why Lettuce spends time with the girls who bully her, Lettuce tells her it is because she believes they are angry about events in their own lives, so she hopes that by being willing to listen to them, she may help them get past it and they can become friends.
Pudding Fong  is the fourth Mew Mew introduced to the readers, though she first appears at the endangered animal exhibit with the other future Mew Mews to help stop bullies from picking on Lettuce. She reappears towards the end of the first volume,
performing acrobatic tricks for Ichigo and Masaya at the zoo, then asking them to pay for the performance. When Kish and the Mew Mews begin a battle at the zoo Ichigo saves Pudding from a fall, only to have Pudding push her out of the way when an elephant is about to step on her. Rather than being crushed, Pudding escapes and transforms into her Mew Mew form. Infused with the DNA of a Golden Lion Tamarin, Pudding grows a monkey tail and ears while transformed, and fights with a pair of rings.
At the age of eight, Pudding is the youngest of the Mew Mews, and still acts like a child at times.
While working at the café, Pudding regularly does acrobatic tricks, resulting in broken dishes and dropped orders. She is full of energy and loves having fun, to the point Mint considers her very immature and the other Mew Mews agree that her monkey DNA is a perfect match for her personality. In the fifth volume, it is revealed that Pudding is raising her five brothers and sisters and managing the family finances, while their father is away to train in the mountains. While the manga does not mention Pudding's mother, the anime adaptation states that her mother died.
When Tart captures Pudding and holds her hostage, she gives him a piece of candy and declares that he is her new "bud.Though Tart later refers to her as "spooky", he also looks at the candy she gave him and laughs. When the Mew Mews face Tart and Pie in the final battle, Pudding asks Tart if they must fight, and while he hesitates a moment, he affirms they must.
Zakuro Fujiwara  is the last of the main Mew Mews introduced. As with the others, she first appears at the start of the series, helping rescue Lettuce from bullies at the endangered animal exhibit. She reappears at end of the second volume, when Mint
finds a picture of her in a magazine and recognizes her from the museum. When the Mew Mews first meet Zakuro, she seems friendly, but after discovering who they are, she coldly brushes them off. Kish decides to target Zakuro, because she is separated from the others. The Mew Mews come to her aid, and after the battle, Zakuro decides she will make an exception for them and become a part of the team. Infused with the DNA of a Gray Wolf, Zakuro has a wolf tail and ears while in her Mew Mew form, and fights with a whip.
In the anime adaptation, Zakuro's background is more developed, and she is shown to be estranged from her family, having left home two years before. She is depicted as being a Christian, wearing a cross and attending a Christian church.[episode needed] Junko Noda provides her voice in the anime. In the Mew Mew Power English adaptation, her name is changed to Renée Roberts and the references to her Christian faith are edited out of the series.[episode needed] Her voice in the English dub is supplied by Mollie Weaver.
Ryou Shirogane  is a wealthy high school student, the head of the Mew Project, and the owner of the Cafe Mew Mew. He also created the robot assistants of Mew Ichigo.  The Mew Project was first started by his father in the United States five years before the time when Tokyo Mew Mew is set.
Keiichiro Akasakais the manager and baker of Cafe Mew Mew and Ryou's partner in the Mew Project. Five years before the start of Tokyo Mew Mew, Keiichiro worked with Dr. Shirogane, Ryou's father, on the Mew Project in the United States. After Ryou's parents were killed in a lab explosion, Keiichiro went with Ryou to Japan to continue working on the Mew Project.

Keiichiro cares a great deal for Ryou, and worries when he risks himself to help the Mew Mews. Knowing he couldn't stop Ryou, though, he only makes him promise to return because he'll be waiting with tea to welcome him home. Keiichiro's age is not given in the manga and anime adaptations.
Keiichiro is considered to be a gentleman by the Mew Mews, with a charming, tactful, and kind personality. He is shown to have a mischievous and flirtatious side, however, such as offering to kiss Ichigo to change her out of her cat form. Ichigo once wondered if Keiichiro might be the Blue Knight after she sees he has an injury in the same spot that the Blue Knight had been injured in earlier in the day.
The injury, however, came from Pudding having an accident while practicing a trick. Although Keiichiro is not shown to have any romantic interests in the manga, in the fourteen episode of the anime adaptation, he is shown to have an ex-girlfriend named Rei Nishina, a researcher studying butterflies. He broke up with her due to their both having busy lives, however he always makes a special cake at the cafe for her birthday. She is attacked by the aliens and her spirit is stolen in an attempt to turn her into a chimera anima. After she is saved by the Mew Mews, they go their separate ways.
Masaya Aoyama  is first introduced in Tokyo Mew Mew as a classmate of Ichigo who invites her to visit an exhibit on endangered species. Ichigo has a crush on him, though she thinks he is oblivious to her—when Ichigo trips and falls on him, accidentally kissing him in the process, Masaya doesn't seem to react at all. Ichigo worries that he doesn't feel
Kisshu is the second of the aliens to return to earth. Introduced at the end of the first volume of the manga, Kish primarily acts in a playful and carefree manner, seeming to enjoying fighting with the Mew Mews and treating it like a game.Throughout the series, Kish develops increasingly stronger feelings for Ichigo, first regarding her as an "interesting toy", and obsessing over her.
Tart is one of two aliens who come to Earth to aid Kish after Kish continues losing to the Mew Mews. Energetic and often childish, Tart taunts Kish for losing to the Mew Mews by saying he is weak.He primarily fights using physical attacks and chimera animals, but is also capable of manipulating plants to bind people and attacking with an energy beam. Tart shows a distinct dislike for Ichigo and refers to her as an "old woman" when they encounter one another, only to be called a "midget" in return.Midway through the series, Tart and Pie capture Pudding and .
hold her hostage under the Tokyo Dome. After he rescues her she gives him candy.
Pai comes to Earth with Tart to aid Kish in preparing the planet of the arrival of Deep Blue.He is calm and analytical during his initial attacks on the Mew Mews, scientifically escalating the "mortality rate" of each chimera anima he sends and, when they are defeated, noting that "stronger tactics will be needed".Unlike Kish and Tart, Pie does not outwardly express his emotions often, and
Deep Blue  is the leader of the aliens. He came to Earth years before the others and assumed the form of a human boy, Masaya Aoyama, to avoid detection.[Deep Blue went to sleep within his new body, leaving Masaya with no memories of who or what he really is, but retaining some of Deep Blue's disgust for the way humans were treating the environment.
